Cherish the thoughts
I haven't posted my thoughts here in a long while. Pictures and videos of crushes, yes, but thoughts, no.
This is likely to be long getting to the point, but that's how thoughts go sometimes.
So today I am thinking about how some people gush and boast in a public forum about how wonderful their spouse is and I think to myself, "What is it about some people that their significant other wants to brag about them or tell everyone how thankful they are for them" or whatever you want to call it. And I thought, "how would I need to be to have someone think I was the greatest thing since sliced bread?" What qualities would I need to exhibit? Or is it that some people are just more verbally expressive to others about this? I mean, just because one person doesn't say how great they think their spouse is to everyone they know, doesn't mean that spouse isn't great or that they haven't told them privately how great they are. Rambling here I know.
Then the song Cherish came into my mind.
And I am thinking "wow! I think people only cherish others who are givers in some way. Or they cherish people who are happy and thoughtful. They don't cherish people who are difficult or ornary or have various struggles, etc. At least it didn't feel that way to me. I mean, you never hear anyone say they cherish their spouse because they are lazy or struggle with mental illness and still manage to raise a family. Or they have this or that problem that challenges them and makes them appear selfish, but they are genuinely kind at heart. This thought just sort of grabbed me! It somehow seems unfair and discriminatory, yet I can totally understand how someone wouldn't want to praise actions that seem unkind or selfish.
But the reverse can also be true. A person can be "all that" but the one they are with doesn't think they are all that. Perhaps they take their spouse for granted. I remember thinking when I was in marriage counseling that I didn't feel cherished and I know of another woman who says the same thing. This is what got me to thinking. I mean, I know this other woman was very giving and thoughtful, yet she did not feel cherished by her then husband. Did he cherish her? From what I witnessed it didn't appear so. Why were they married? And by the way, it did appear she cherished him, if not completely, at least more than he did her.
Did I cherish my own spouse? There was a time I did, and then came a time I didn't I guess. Why was that? Why did I stop? Is cherishing conditional? Would my spouse only cherish me IF i cherished him in return? Is that how cherishing works or should work? would I only cherish my spouse IF he cherished me? What does that mean anyway? Cherish:
We can learn to look for attributes to cherish in another person even if that same person falls short of our expectations in some or many ways. Right?
I don't know why I felt a need to write these thoughts down. I have many things to say, but not always someone to say them to, so a blog comes in handy.
One day I hope to have someone special in my life to cherish, who will think of me as very special as well. In the meantime I have to to stop believing I am not worthy of cherishing just because someone doesn't currently cherish me. There are so many people out there who have nobody to cherish and nobody to cherish them. Do you think most of them care about that? I would bet they do.

a : to hold dear : feel or show affection for <cherished her friends>
b : to keep or cultivate with care and affection : nurture <cherishes his marriage>
What attributes would a person need to exhibit or have for me to cherish them? Are those attributes I also have or aspire to have?

I have to say I now see the purpose of this song.....but I have to also say that while he IS easy on the eyes, it is not merely his looks that make him so attractive. Because of the internet one can find out all sorts of info about some famous people and I have not found one unpleasant thing about Simon Baker yet. Everyone seems to think he is a nice person. So, his looks are enhanced by his actions! And his smile is the best! Looking at him smiling makes me smile!

Tired all the time
Seems like all I ever am is tired. By the time I have a second to do something fun or creative I am too tired. All my energy is expended at the work place and then I am ready to crash. No fun :(
AND boring to write about.
This is why I don't blog much anymore.

Dusty
My furniture is dusty. But not as dusty as it would be if the twin towers on 9-11 had collapsed near me.
It is all relative isn't it?
I'm brushing my teeth as I type. I'm so sleepy I feel like brushing my teeth with my eyes closed, but I'm still brushing my teeth and typing, too...so I could be sleepier.
OK, this is ridiculous. I need to go to bed...
